A Rain-Kissed Promise at Rabindra Sarovar

That day the clouds were whispering low,
As we left university, hearts all aglow.
The rain kept falling, soft and slow,
Leading us where only true lovers go.

At Rabindra Sarovar beneath the grey sky,
I held you close while the rain drifted by.
A thousand emotions I could never explain,
Were hidden inside that beautiful embrace in the rain.

I kissed your forehead, gentle and sweet,
As if every prayer and every dream could meet.
Then hand in hand, our fingers intertwined,
Two wandering souls leaving the world behind.

The lake was silent, the trees stood still,
Yet my heart raced beyond my will.
Looking into your eyes, so deep and bright,
I kissed your lips beneath the fading light.

Then came a moment I’ll cherish forever,
A memory that time can never sever.
With your liquid matte lipstick, crimson and red,
I softly placed a mark upon your head.

Though it wasn’t real sindoor by tradition’s way,
The feelings were true that rainy day.
I smiled and whispered with all my heart’s joy,
“Hello, Mrs. Sayantika Das Roy.”

The world disappeared, the rain fell free,
And all I could see was you and me.
Husband and wife, if only in soul,
Two broken halves becoming whole.

Your eyes grew wet, so did mine,
As destiny crossed our invisible line.
I kissed your cheeks, your forehead, your face,
Wanting to memorize every feature, every grace.

You carried a pain you chose not to show,
Yet somehow I felt it deep below.
Without a word, without a sign,
Your silent suffering became mine.

Later inside the rushing metro train,
I tried to comfort and ease your pain.
And when someone crossed a boundary they should never employ,
You stood beside me, protective and loyal with poise.

In that simple act, my heart could see,
How fiercely your love shelters me.
Not just a lover, not just a friend,
But my guardian angel until the end.

And now each day, each breath we take,
Feels impossible without the other to make.
For we are soulmates, forever tied,
By fate’s strong rope we cannot untie.

One day with blessings from family and all,
We will answer destiny’s beautiful call.
No more distance, no more waiting apart,
Just your hand in mine and your name in my heart.

Until that day, my promise remains true,
In every lifetime, I’ll come searching for you.
Through storms and sunshine, through joy and strife,
My Sayantika, my love, my future wife.

And whenever I remember that rainy afternoon’s embrace,
I still see those glasses, that beautiful smiling face.
Two hearts in one frame, forever employed—
Sayantika Das and Niloy Shouvic Roy.
